The Province of Guimaras earned back-to-back national and regional awards for the third consecutive year, reaffirming its strong commitment to data-driven governance.
The province was once again named the Best Local Government Unit Advocate for Statistics—a national recognition given during the 36th National Statistics Month Closing Ceremony at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Complex in Malate, Manila.
“This remarkable three-peat victory underscores Guimaras’ consistent excellence in promoting the importance and use of statistics in local governance, policy formulation, and evidence-based decision-making,” said Chief Statistical Specialist Nelida B. Losare.
“Behind this milestone is the strong leadership and support of the Provincial Government of Guimaras, led by Congressman JC Rahman A. Nava, MD, and Governor Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD, whose proactive involvement and advocacy have made statistics an integral part of development planning and governance in the province,” Losare added.
Adding to its national recognition, the Provincial Statistics Committee of Guimaras was also named the Best Provincial Statistics Committee in Western Visayas for the third consecutive year.
This award was presented during the 36th National Statistics Month Closing Ceremony for Western Visayas at the Department of Development Regional Office VI.
The committee’s efforts, supported by the Philippine Statistics Authority and the Provincial Government of Guimaras, continue to drive initiatives that promote statistical literacy, coordination, and innovation.
These double grand slam victories highlight Guimaras’ culture of collaboration among local government units, national agencies, academic institutions, and private sector partners working together to strengthen statistical development in the province.
The PSA recognized these achievements as models of best practices in local statistical coordination and advocacy, inspiring other provinces to enhance their own statistical systems and governance mechanisms.
“As Guimaras celebrates these double grand slam wins, it reaffirms its commitment to uphold statistics as a foundation for sustainable development, inclusive growth, and evidence-based policymaking,” Losare said.
