The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Guimaras reported generally lower average retail prices of rice in the province during the first phase of December 2025 (Dec. 1–5, 2025), based on data from the Retail Price Survey (RPS) used to generate the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
At the provincial level, the average retail price of regular milled rice was PHP 42.00 per kilogram during the reference period.
“This price remained unchanged from the average prices posted in both the first and second phases of November 2025, which were also at PHP 42.00 per kilogram,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare.
Compared with the same period last year, the current price is notably lower than the PHP 53.50 per kilogram recorded during both phases of December 2024.
For well-milled rice, the average retail price in Guimaras increased slightly to PHP 47.00 per kilogram in the first phase of December 2025 from PHP 46.00 per kilogram recorded in both phases of November 2025.
“Despite this marginal increase, the price remained lower compared with the PHP 55.50 per kilogram registered during the same period in December 2024,” Losare said.

Special rice posted an average retail price of PHP 58.88 per kilogram during the reference period.
“This reflected an increase from the PHP 52.59 per kilogram in the first phase of November 2025 and PHP 52.00 per kilogram in the second phase of November 2025,” Losare said.

“However, compared with the previous year, the price of special rice declined from PHP 62.67 and PHP 62.34 per kilogram recorded in the first and second phases of December 2024, respectively,” she added.
Across Western Visayas, Guimaras recorded an average retail price of PHP 42.00 per kilogram for regular milled rice during the first phase of December 2025.
“Among the provinces in the region, the lowest price for regular milled rice was observed in Aklan at PHP 37.00 per kilogram, while the highest price was registered in Capiz at PHP 46.34 per kilogram,” Losare said.
She further noted that Guimaras posted the lowest average retail price for well-milled rice in the region at PHP 47.00 per kilogram, while the highest price was recorded in Iloilo province at PHP 53.13 per kilogram.
For special rice, Aklan recorded the lowest average retail price at PHP 54.50 per kilogram, while Antique posted the highest at PHP 67.75 per kilogram during the first phase of December 2025.
“In comparison with the first phase of December 2024, Guimaras recorded the lowest average retail price for special rice at PHP 62.67 per kilogram, while Antique remained the highest at PHP 71.41 per kilogram,” Losare said.
The Retail Price Survey collects retail prices of selected commodities commonly purchased by Filipino households and serves as a vital statistical tool in monitoring price movements and assessing inflation trends at both the provincial and regional levels.
