One of Guimaras province’s most wanted persons was arrested Monday morning, Jan. 12, in Malay, Aklan.
Police identified the suspect as alias Jon, 48, of Barangay II, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, who was temporarily residing in Calumpit, Bulacan.
Authorities said Jon was believed to be en route to Bulacan when police arrested him at the Caticlan Jetty Port in Barangay Caticlan, Malay.
Members of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit, in coordination with the Nueva Valencia Municipal Police Station and the Malay Municipal Police Station, arrested the suspect after receiving a tip from a concerned citizen that he was traveling back to Bulacan.
Jon was arrested by virtue of warrants for direct assault with murder and direct assault with attempted murder under Article 148 of the Revised Penal Code.
The warrants were issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 65 in Jordan, Guimaras, on Aug. 16, 2021.
No bail was recommended for the direct assault with murder charge, while a PHP 120,000 bail bond was set for the other case.
Police said the suspect was listed as the No. 4 most wanted person in Guimaras.
Jon was brought to Malay Municipal Police Station 5 for booking and documentation and was later transported to the Nueva Valencia Municipal Police Station before being turned over to the court.
