“Also, yellow corn production rose to 425.1 metric tons in the second semester of 2025, reflecting a 60.4 percent increase from the 265 metric tons recorded during the same period in 2024,” Provincial Statistical Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
In terms of area harvested, white corn covered 181 hectares in the second semester of 2025, representing a 16.8% increase from 155 hectares in the same period in 2024.
Yellow corn, meanwhile, posted a harvested area of 140 hectares, up 27.3% from 110 hectares in the second semester of 2024.

“Across the Western Visayas region, Iloilo accounted for the largest share of the region’s total corn production at 52.9 percent with 55,534.91 MT, followed by Capiz with 43.3 percent or 45,528.37 MT and Antique with 2.7 percent or 2,838.61MT,” Losare said.
“Guimaras and Aklan each contributed less than one percent, with Guimaras accounting for 0.7 percent of the region’s total corn production during the second semester of 2025,” Losare added.
Losare further explained that, in terms of area harvested across Western Visayas, Iloilo recorded the largest share with 13,344.31 hectares, accounting for 55.5% of the region’s total harvested area.

The data were generated through the Corn Production Survey conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority.
The survey provides estimates on corn production and area harvested that serve as key inputs for policy formulation and development programs in the agriculture sector.
Corn remains an important crop for food and animal feed, making production and harvested-area data critical to regional farm planning and supply monitoring.
