Yellow corn output climbed to 602.1 metric tons, up 49.78%, while white corn production reached 413.35 metric tons, an increase of 25.03% from 2024.
Agriculture remains central to Guimaras, where farming and fishing are primary sources of livelihood and provincial agricultural programs include support for rice and corn producers.
“The harvested area for white corn expanded to 286.00 hectares, a 19.17% increase, while yellow had 250.00 hectares, marking a 31.58% rise from 2024,” Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.

“These figures suggest that corn yield per hectare improved by 10.99 percent, with 1.93 MT per hectare yield in 2025 from 1.74 MT per hectare in 2024,” she added.
Guimaras accounted for 0.51% of Western Visayas’ total corn production in 2025.
Iloilo remained the region’s top corn producer, accounting for 54.08% of output, followed by Capiz with 40.38% and Antique with 4.50%.
All provinces except Aklan posted increases in both corn production and harvested area, pointing to broader growth in corn cultivation across Western Visayas.
Palay production in Guimaras totaled 52,518.90 metric tons in 2025, down 1.00% from 53,049.50 metric tons in 2024, even as total harvested area rose 2.64% to 19,313.00 hectares from 18,817.00 hectares.
By farm type, irrigated palay production grew 4.17% to 15,870.00 metric tons as harvested area expanded to 4,509.00 hectares, while rainfed palay output fell 3.08% to 36,648.90 metric tons despite a 2.73% increase in harvested area to 14,804.00 hectares.

Within Western Visayas, Guimaras contributed 3.53% of total palay production in 2025.
Iloilo led the region with 56.39%, followed by Capiz with 21.65%, Antique with 13.48% and Aklan with 4.94%.
“The data highlights contrasting trends between corn and palay in the province: corn yield per hectare in 2025 was at 1.93 MT per hectare, recorded a 10.99% improvement over 2024 with 1.74 MT per hectare, while palay with an output yield of 2.72 MT per hectare in 2025 recorded a short fall of -3.54% over its 2.82 MT per hectare in 2024,” Losare said.
“The combined data provides a comprehensive overview of the province’s agricultural performance and situates Guimaras within the broader regional context, informing planning, policy decisions, and support programs for local farmers and stakeholders,” Losare said.
