The Golden State Warriors ruled out superstar point guard Stephen Curry for at least a week due to a quadriceps contusion and a strained muscle injury, announced on Nov. 28, 2025.
Curry suffered the injury during Golden State’s 104-100 loss to the Houston Rockets on Nov. 27, and was already confirmed through a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test.
With the recent development, Golden State will have to brace for a Curry-less campaign in the next three games against the New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Curry was seen grimacing in pain with only 4:37 remaining in the game, when he banged knees with Houston’s Alperen Sengun off a screen play.
After the initial contact, Curry could barely walk, but chose to fight through the injury as the Warriors still held a one-point lead at that time, 89-88.
Following the accidental contact between him and Sengun, the injury worsened when he collided with Amen Thompson during a drive attempt in the final 3:26.
Unfortunately, despite Curry’s toughness, the Rockets still pulled off the impressive come-from-behind dub and stunned Golden State in front of their home fans.
Curry couldn’t withstand the pain that was bothering him in his leg and had to limp out to the locker room with 35 seconds left and the Rockets already leading by five points.
“When I heard it was a quad I was actually kind of relieved, better than an ankle or a knee,” said Golden State head coach Steve Kerr.
“Hopefully he can recover quickly and be okay. But we’ve got to hold down the fort. It obviously changes everything, our rotations, how we’re playing, who we’re playing through, so we’ll see.”
Despite a healthy lineup to kick off the 2025-2026 season, the Warriors are currently struggling to maintain their consistency and have only won 10 games out of their 20 total matchups.
They are sitting at the eighth spot in the Western Conference with a 10-10 win-loss record, a disappointing start which led to vocal frustrations from Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler.
Curry proved he is still in his A-game at the start of the season, averaging 27.9 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.7 rebounds in 16 games played.
He had a crazy stretch of scoring back-to-back 40+ points from Nov. 13 to Nov. 15, dropping 46 points in their first encounter with the San Antonio Spurs while following it up with a 49-point outburst during their rematch.
