The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has launched Ginhawa Go, a microloan program designed to provide fast, affordable short-term financial relief to government employees and GSIS members.
Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go led the official launch of the program, which he said addresses the urgent financial needs of public sector workers.
“Sa paglulunsad ng Ginhawa Go, mayroon nang maaasahang solusyon ang ating mga kapwa government workers sa oras ng biglaang pangangailangan — na maayos, abot-kaya, at makatarungan,” Secretary Go said.
Under the program, qualified GSIS members may borrow from PHP 1,000 to PHP 50,000.
Short-term loans of up to PHP 4,000 are payable within 30, 60, or 90 days, while loans ranging from PHP 5,000 to PHP 50,000 may be repaid over three to 24 months.
Interest rates are kept at 6% to 7% per annum, computed in advance, with loan limits and rates varying based on membership type and length of paid premium contributions.
The program includes a Loan Redemption Insurance (LRI), fully deducted in advance, which cancels the outstanding loan balance in the event of the borrower’s death, provided the account is current.
Applications are processed exclusively through GSIS Touch, with approved proceeds credited directly to the member’s GSIS eCard or ATM account and notifications sent via email or SMS.
Loan repayments are made through mandatory payroll deduction to help borrowers avoid penalties.
“Ang Ginhawa Go ay hindi lamang panibagong loan program ng GSIS. Ito ay proteksyon para sa mga government employees laban sa mapanganib at mapanlinlang na pagpapautang, at suporta upang mapatatag ang inyong kabuhayan,” Secretary Go said.
Ginhawa Go complements a parallel Social Security System (SSS) microloan initiative being developed for private-sector workers, both reflecting the Marcos administration’s push for inclusive growth and social protection.
The government said the program aims to reduce workers’ reliance on informal and high-interest lenders while strengthening household financial resilience.
