The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has allocated over PHP 514 million for its emergency loan program to assist 23,469 members and pensioners affected by typhoons Nika, Marce, Ofel, and Pepito in calamity-declared areas in Luzon.
The program will benefit active members and old-age or disability pensioners residing or working in Quirino, Apayao, and Aurora provinces, as well as Santiago City and Cabagan town in Isabela.
Applications are open until December 20 for residents of Quirino, Apayao, and Santiago City, while the deadline is December 24 for Aurora province and Cabagan town.
Eligible members without an existing emergency loan can borrow up to PHP 20,000.
Those with an outstanding loan balance may apply for up to PHP 40,000, provided the net proceeds do not exceed PHP 20,000.
The loan carries a 6% annual interest rate and a three-year repayment term, including redemption insurance that settles the balance in case of the borrower’s death during the loan term.
Pensioners may also apply, provided they meet specific requirements, including retaining at least 25% of their net basic monthly pension after loan deductions.
Active GSIS members must be residing or working in the designated calamity zones, have paid at least six months of premiums prior to application, and maintain a minimum net take-home pay of PHP 5,000 after all deductions.
They must also be free from pending administrative or criminal cases and not be on leave without pay.
Applications can be submitted through the GSIS Touch mobile app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
