ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Authorities seized a hand grenade, suspected unlicensed firearms and about 100 grams of suspected shabu during a search of a house in Barangay Bahit, Panitan, on Friday morning, Aug. 14.
The suspected drugs had an estimated standard value of PHP 680,000.
The Philippine National Police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency jointly searched the house linked to Kenneth Dorado, 43.
Authorities identified Dorado as a regional target-listed drug personality and initially described him as a resident of the village.
The operation was conducted under three search warrants issued by a Regional Trial Court judge in Roxas City on Aug. 13, 2026.
Authorities recovered a revolver of unspecified caliber loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, one magazine and one hand grenade.
They also found two precharged pneumatic long guns and a replica airsoft handgun.
The drug-related evidence consisted of two large sachets containing about 100 grams of suspected shabu, 15 improvised tooters, a weighing scale and a bundle of empty plastic sachets.
Dorado was not at the house when authorities served the search warrants.
Barangay Bahit chairperson Analiza Dorado said the suspect was not on the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council’s list.
She also said he was not a drug surrenderer or a current resident of the village because the searched house belonged to his parents.
The initial report described Dorado as a nephew of the village chief’s wife and said he had spent two months at a treatment and rehabilitation center in Iloilo City.
Dorado was among the suspects arrested during a drug buy-bust operation in Roxas City in 2009.
He was also injured when a car in which he was riding was ambushed several months ago in Barangay Aglalana, Passi City.
His two companions, Jennylyn Juliano Grino and Jomar Fuentes, were killed in the attack.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into Friday’s search and the items recovered.
Shabu is the local term for methamphetamine hydrochloride, a dangerous drug regulated under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The ownership and possession of firearms and ammunition are regulated under Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
