Greg Slaughter has been away from the PBA for almost five months after his contract expired and rumors are spreading that he went away not to rest, but to play for another league.
Since announcing his exit from the PBA, Slaughter was still working out along with fellow ex-Ginebra buddy Chris Ellis in private gym sessions.
However, the 6’11’’ center hasn’t been in contact with any of Ginebra’s coaching staff, including coach Tim Cone.
The winningest coach in the history of the PBA said that they tried to contact Slaughter several times but he hasn’t responded to the calls.
“The last we heard is he’s gonna make a tryout in the NBA G League. We don’t know if it’s true or not. We heard that from a third party, that he’s gonna try out for the G League, but there’s no G League. So there’s no G League until next year cause they won’t have it this year,” said coach Cone.
However, if Slaughter chooses to go back to Ginebra, the management will retain his rights and will have the right of first refusal before he chooses to join another team.
