BACOLOD CITY — The Green Team was crowned champion in the 2025 Negros Press Club (NPC) Bowling Tournament held Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Negros Super Lanes in Bacolod City.
The team secured the top spot with a total score of 786 points, edging out the Yellow Team by just one point, which finished with 785 points.
Led by NPC Board of Director Merlinda Pedrosa of SunStar, the Green Team trailed the Yellow Team by 30 points after the first round but made a strong comeback in the second round, scoring 409 points to take the lead.
The Yellow Team, captained by NPC Board of Director Maureen Andrea Soliguen of FMR-Bacolod, settled for second place.
The Pink Team, led by Rox Estrella of DYRL, placed third with 736 points, while the Red Team, led by NPC Board of Director Eden Aboso of Aksyon Radyo, came in fourth with 707 points.
Individual awards were also handed out, with Boy Duran of the Pink Team taking home three: Highest Single Score, Highest Double, and Special Award for Most Spares.
Dolly Yasa of Daily Guardian also earned three individual honors: Highest Double, Special Award for Most Strikes, and Special Award for Most Spares.
Other individual awardees included Jun Gaton of Pasiplat FM, who won the Highest Pinning Award for Male, and Dolores Miranda of Negros Now Daily, who received the Highest Single Score Award.
Winners received cash prizes, and members of the champion team were awarded medals.
NPC President Mark Gabriel Salanga thanked club members and sponsors, including Negros Occidental 3rd District Rep. Javi Benitez, Merzci, and Manapla Port Stevedoring and Arastry (MPSA), for supporting the tournament.
The NPC Bowling Tournament is an annual tradition of the club, which is recognized as the oldest press club in the Philippines.
