Grandfather arrested for granddaughter’s rape, killing

A 71-year-old grandfather wanted for the rape and killing of his 7-year-old granddaughter in Lambunao, Iloilo was arrested on April 4.

The suspect, identified by the alias Onyok, was apprehended at a relative’s house in Barangay Tipacla, Ajuy.

Members of the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company (IPMFC) Intelligence Unit, in coordination with the Ajuy Municipal Police Station, the Lambunao Municipal Police Station, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office–Provincial Intelligence Unit (IPPO-PIU), and the 602nd Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 carried out the arrest.

Police served a warrant for rape with homicide under Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, issued by the 6th Regional Trial Court in Janiuay, Iloilo on March 10, 2026. No bail was recommended.

Onyok is the No. 1 most wanted person in Western Visayas.

The Lambunao Municipal Police Station filed charges against Onyok before the Iloilo Provincial Prosecutor’s Office on the afternoon of Dec. 15, 2025.

Police have four witnesses identifying Onyok as the suspect who raped and killed the victim, referred to by the alias Bebe, on Nov. 8, 2025, in Barangay Tampucao, Lambunao.

Witness testimonies were corroborated by circumstantial evidence gathered by investigators.

An autopsy conducted by medico-legal officer Dr. Owen Libaquen determined that Bebe died of strangulation. The autopsy also revealed an old healed laceration on her genitals, indicating prior sexual abuse.

The Lambunao Municipal Police Station identified seven persons of interest in connection with Bebe’s death, including individuals seen near the scene before and after the girl was found, as well as those deemed capable of committing the crime.

Two of the persons of interest have prior records related to sexual molestation.

Bebe was found by her 72-year-old grandmother stuffed inside a sack. She was barely breathing, naked from the waist down, and had a ligature around her neck. She was rushed to a hospital but died shortly after.
