Bearing the theme “Harmony in Radiance,” this year’s celebration embodied the light, energy, and togetherness that define Iloilo. It reflected the enduring unity, shared heritage, and collective contributions of the Chinese community in helping build a more progressive and culturally enriched city.
The Grand Cultural Show featured a blend of traditional and contemporary performances highlighting music, dance, and artistry symbolizing good fortune, harmony, and hope for the year ahead.
Captivating performances from Sun Yat Sen High School of Iloilo, Hua Siong College of Iloilo, Iloilo Scholastic Academy, and Ateneo de Iloilo – Sta. Maria Catholic School wowed the audience with dynamic portrayals of Chinese artistry and cultural heritage, showcasing a powerful display of unity and prosperity through performance.
Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu graced the event and emphasized the vital role of the Chinese-Filipino community in Iloilo’s continued progress. This year’s hosting by Sun Yat Sen High School of Iloilo came on the heels of its 100th foundation anniversary last year, reaffirming its legacy as a pillar of Chinese-Filipino education in the region. As the institution celebrates its centennial milestone and returns as host, it reminds Ilonggos of a heritage that continues to shape the future.
The Chinese New Year celebration in Iloilo, which began in 2003, has since grown into a cherished tradition that endures across generations. It is widely considered the largest celebration of its kind outside Manila, bringing together Ilonggos and the Filipino-Chinese community in a shared story of friendship, unity, and cultural pride for more than two decades.
