BACOLOD CITY — A Grade 7 student was reportedly caught with an improvised tooter during the opening of classes in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, on Monday.
Police said they received a call from a high school teacher who reported that a student was allegedly seen concealing an improvised tooter in her pocket.
When the teacher interviewed the student, the minor voluntarily retrieved the item from her pocket.
The student showed the item to the teacher and other school personnel present, confirming that the improvised tooter was in her possession, police said.
The student was turned over to the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
The seized item was submitted to the Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.
Under Philippine law, children in conflict with the law are handled through the juvenile justice and welfare system, which prioritizes intervention, rehabilitation, and appropriate social welfare assistance.
