BACOLOD City A four-year old girl who was playing in a football field died Monday after she was crushed by a goal post in Silay City, Negros Occidental.
Police withheld the name of the victim.
Police Major Rollie Pondevilla, city police chief, said the victim and some of her friends went to the football field to pick flowers as they were attending Flores de Mayo or May Flower Festival.
The victim later joined other children in playing near the goal post.
The victim was lying on the grass when her companions allegedly shook the goal post until it fell on her chest.
She was was rushed to a hospital where she died of internal hemorrhage.
“The post was probably situated on the elevated part of the field, that’s why it fell on her,” Pondevilla said.
