Globe brings 5G-powered experiences to MassKara 2026
BACOLOD CITY — Globe is bringing a month-long lineup of 5G-powered activities to MassKara Festival 2026, combining music, art, digital experiences and community programs designed to put Bacolod’s people, landmarks and local talent at the center of the celebration.
The telecommunications company said the initiatives are intended to give students, artists, musicians, families and local communities more opportunities to take part in the festival while using connectivity to support creativity, learning and participation in the digital economy.
“MassKara reflects the creativity, optimism and strong sense of community that Bacolod is known for. We want to give Bacolodnons more ways to come together, showcase their talents and make the most of the festival with connectivity that keeps up with them,” said KD Dizon, Globe Chief Marketing Officer.
The celebration began Oct. 10 with 5G HyperMove, which brought members of Bacolod’s running community together for a challenge to collectively reach 1 million steps.
Young creatives also joined 5G Building Craft: Paint Tomorrow, where participants used mural art and Gemini AI to develop concepts inspired by Bacolod’s digital future.
Some of the city’s best-known destinations were incorporated into 5G EnergyTok, a TikTok dance challenge that featured San Sebastian Cathedral and Public Plaza, Negros Museum and Art District, The Ruins, and Capitol Park and Lagoon.
The challenge gave participants a platform to showcase their creativity while drawing attention to landmarks that form part of Bacolod’s cultural and tourism identity.
Music takes the spotlight on Oct. 17 when G Music Fest is staged at the Bacolod Government Center with December Avenue as the headline act.
Selected student bands from 5G EnergyJam will also perform during the event, providing young musicians from local universities an opportunity to bring their music to the MassKara stage.
Festivalgoers can also visit the Globe 5G Pitstop booth along Lacson Street from Oct. 16 to 18 for interactive activities, 5G SIM activations and device upgrade options.
The hub is positioned near the main MassKara activities, allowing visitors to explore Globe’s 5G services while remaining close to the festival action.
Globe said its MassKara initiatives are being carried out with Bacolod Gugma Foundation Inc., GCash, Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Jollibee, Leslie’s Chips and Viu, with Pawssion Project serving as the official beneficiary.
The partnerships are intended to broaden participation in the activities while showcasing the people, places and homegrown talent that give MassKara its distinctly Bacolod character.
Beyond the festival itself, Globe is extending its digital programs to local entrepreneurs and students through initiatives focused on connectivity, digital skills and responsible technology use.
The Globe Caravan will help micro and small business owners explore connectivity services and digital tools that can support social commerce.
A separate campus initiative at Bacolod City National High School will provide 20 5G-enabled devices and conduct Digital Thumbprint Program sessions aimed at supporting digital learning and responsible technology use.
Through the festival activities and community programs, Globe is linking 5G connectivity with opportunities for Bacolodnons to create, perform, learn and participate more actively in the digital economy.
The company said the initiatives are designed to leave an impact beyond the month-long celebration by giving students and entrepreneurs practical digital skills and tools they can apply in their everyday lives.
