A 12-year-old girl drowned to her death afternoon of February 8, 2021 in Pavia, Iloilo.
Angel, a resident of NHA in Barangay Balabag, Pavia, Iloilo, allegedly went with her seven friends, who were also minors, for a swim at a creek located at the boundary of barangays Balabag and Pandac around 2 p.m. of Monday.
Police said the creek has a diameter of 20 meters and was about two meters deep.
The victim may have miscalculated the waters’ depth. They did not know that the creek was recently dredged.
Angel’s companion said the victim failed to surface from the waters. Her friends immediately asked for help.
A 15-year-old boy was able to pull out Angel from the creek.
Responding members of the Pavia Response Team tried to revive her but she was already not responsive.
She was taken to the Pavia Rural Health Unit where she was declared dead at 3 p.m.
