Girl, 7, dies after hit by pick-up truck

BACOLOD City – A seven-year-old girl died after she was hit by a Toyota Hilux at Sitio Campuestohan, Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental Friday afternoon.

Police Lieutenant Ray Cordero, deputy for operations of Talisay City Police Station, withheld the name of the minor-victim.

Cordero said the victim was run over by a pick-up truck around 2 p.m. Friday as she crossed the street. The 22-year-old driver of the truck is now in police custody after he surrendered.

Cordero said the driver told the police that he did not notice the child as she was crossing the road because another vehicle covered his line of sight.

The child was declared dead in a hospital.
