Girl, 5, drowns in Don Salvador Benedicto river on Black Saturday

BACOLOD CITY — A 5-year-old girl drowned in a river in Barangay Bunga, Don Salvador Benedicto, Negros Occidental on Black Saturday, April 4.
Initial investigation revealed that the victim was swimming with family and friends when her father noticed she was missing before noon.
They immediately searched for her and recovered her body underwater.
The victim was rushed to the Don Salvador Benedicto Municipal Health Unit, where medical personnel found her unresponsive.
She was then transported to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The incident was reported to police an hour later.
