Girl, 12, dies after being punched by playmate

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A 12-year-girl died after her 10-year-old boy playmate punched her abdomen Tuesday at Barangay Libas here.

Rhea (not her real name) was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician in a hospital.

Investigation conducted by the Roxas City police indicated that the victim and her friends, including the suspect, were swimming in the river. But the suspect got irked after he was bullied by his playmates and dared them to a fight.

The victim shouted and accepted the challenge. The suspect approached the victim and boxed the victim in her abdomen twice.

The victim fell unconscious and was immediately brought to the hospital.

According to the victim’s father, his daughter did not eat lunch and had a heart ailment.

The suspect is presently in the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development Office.
