ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 56-year-old ginger trader was robbed and killed by unidentified suspects Sunday evening at Barangay San Juan in Jamindan, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Jerry Lorenzo of said barangay.
Lorenzo was on his way home from his ginger plantation when unidentified suspects robbed him at gunpoint.
The Jamindan police reported that the suspects shot the victim with a 12-gauge shotgun and a .45-caliber pistol which caused his instant death.
Lorenzo’s P18,000 earnings for the day was missing, according to his family.
Police learned that the victim was involved in a crime in 2020 which could be a possible motive for the incident.
But Jolan Lorenzo, the victim’s son, believed that robbery is the only reason for his father’s death saying that his father did not have enemies in their place.
Jolan said their father left for Aklan province to visit some relatives and brought with him the P18,000 cash.
The family had been waiting for Lorenzo to arrive when they heard gunshots at around 8:30 p.m.
