GCash, the Philippines’ leading finance app, is revolutionizing lending for underserved and unbanked Filipinos through AI-powered solutions.
Using generative AI, GCash’s lending arm, Fuse, simplifies credit scoring and collection processes, enabling more Filipinos to access fair and flexible loans.
“AI has transformed our loan scoring and collections, making credit more accessible and repayments easier,” said Fuse Lending President and CEO Tony Isidro.
Traditional lending in the Philippines often excludes individuals lacking credit history, collateral, or income verification, leaving many dependent on informal lenders who impose exorbitant interest rates.
A 2022 Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas report revealed that over half of borrowers rely on informal lenders, underscoring the need for inclusive financial services.
GCash’s lending products, including GLoan, GCredit, and GGives, have disbursed over PHP155 billion to more than 5.4 million borrowers since launch.
Nearly 90 percent of GCash borrowers have transitioned from informal lending to digital options, benefiting small business owners, market vendors, and sari-sari store operators.
Through AI-driven credit scoring, GCash analyzes users’ transaction history within the app, generating trust scores that allow even first-time borrowers to access formal credit.
The app also employs AI for digital loan collection, including a conversational VoiceBot named Gina, which enhances collection efficiency and supports borrowers in managing repayments.
“Millions of Filipinos were able to gain access to these thanks to GCash, and through AI, we hope to unlock even more possibilities for digital financial inclusion in the Philippines,” Isidro added.
GCash’s AI-powered innovations underscore its commitment to “Finance for All,” bridging the gap for unbanked and underserved Filipinos while fostering ethical and scalable lending practices.
