Garbage collector dies in Sapian motorcycle crash

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 53-year-old garbage collector employed by the local government of Sapian died Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 4, after the motorcycle he was riding collided with another motorcycle along a curved portion of the national highway in Barangay Poblacion, Sapian, Capiz.
Police identified the victim as Armando Lorenzo of Sitio Tabon, Barangay Poblacion, Sapian. The other rider was identified as John Anthony Teodore, 26, of Barangay Dapdapan, also of Sapian.
According to an investigation by the Sapian Municipal Police Station, Lorenzo was about to make a U-turn from a nearby motorshop when he was struck by the oncoming motorcycle driven by Teodore, causing both riders to crash on the concrete road.
Due to the strong impact, Lorenzo sustained severe injuries to the head and other parts of his body.
He was immediately assisted by the Sapian Emergency Response Team and brought to Mambusao District Hospital in Mambusao, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Teodore also suffered injuries and is currently under hospital arrest.
Both motorcycles involved in the crash are now in police custody as the investigation continues.
