BACOLOD CITY – A 48-year-old gamefowl breeder was shot dead in his cock farm in Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Tuesday morning.
Police Lt. Dwight Fajardo, deputy chief of Calatrava Municipal Police Station, said the victim, identified as “Max,” was checking on his fighting cocks around 6:30 a.m. when three assailants arrived and shot him from behind.
Fajardo said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the back and a slash wound on the nape.
The victim was rushed to a hospital but died shortly before noon.
Recovered from the scene were a spent .45-caliber cartridge and a 12-gauge shotgun shell.
Police are investigating the motive behind the killing and are checking the background of the victim.
