Gambling collector arrested with unlicensed gun in Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police arrested an alleged illegal gambling collector Saturday afternoon, Aug. 22, for carrying an unlicensed firearm in Viscaya Ville, Barangay Viscaya, President Roxas, Capiz.
Police identified the suspect only by the alias “Carlo,” 27, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Elizalde in President Roxas.
Officers recovered an improvised “cotejo,” PHP 254 in alleged bet collections, and other gambling paraphernalia from the suspect.
Police also recovered a homemade shotgun loaded with two rounds of ammunition.
The suspect is in the custody of the President Roxas Municipal Police Station pending the filing of complaints for alleged violations of Presidential Decree 1602, which penalizes illegal gambling, and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Republic Act 10591 regulates the lawful ownership, possession, and carrying of firearms and ammunition and provides penalties for unlawful possession.
