Games and Amusements Board (GAB) chairman Baham Mitra said cager Calvin Abueva might lose his professional license because of his PBA altercations and his involvement in another league.
“May sanction si Abueva sa PBA na indefinite. Pinag-aaralan pa namin kung permanently tatanggalin na lisensya niya o hindi. Kapag nawalan siya ng lisensya because of unsportsmanlike behavior, hindi siya makakalaro permanently unless meron siyang gawin maganda.”
Amid Abueva’s suspension in the PBA, he was spotted weeks ago in Montalban, Rizal, playing in a league in Brgy. San Isidro.
“Aside from doon sa violation niya sa team niya, meron ding violations against GAB based on he was not able to get a permission from GAB before playing in any league outside the professional league. ‘Yun ang tinitignan ng board kung paano magiging sanction namin sa kanya,” Garcia said.
With all the issues Abueva is facing, he still did not contact any of PBA’s staff toward his case.
Months ago, PBA said that Abueva should submit an apology letter addressed to the PBA community but until now he hasn’t done so.
“It doesn’t paint a good picture for Philippine professional sports,” said Mitra.
