Fred Agustin explores memory, gratitude, and human connection in solo exhibition Painting with the Soul

MANILA, Philippines — At a time when life seems to move faster than ever, Filipino visual artist Fred Agustin invites viewers to slow down, reflect, and rediscover the beauty of life’s simple moments through his second solo figurative exhibition, Painting with the Soul.

The exhibition opened on July 30 and runs until August 28, 2026 at drybrush Gallery, 2nd Floor, SM Mall of Asia Square.

Featuring a collection of new figurative paintings, Painting with the Soul explores themes of childhood, family, friendship, faith, and cherished memories. Through expressive brushwork, layered textures, and his signature semi-abstract style, Agustin captures moments that are deeply personal yet universally relatable. Rather than dwelling on nostalgia as a longing for what has passed, the exhibition presents it as a celebration of gratitude—honoring the people, places, and experiences that shape one’s identity. Each painting encourages viewers to pause and reconnect with memories that continue to give meaning to the present.

The exhibition also marks a significant personal milestone for the artist as he approaches his 50th birthday next month. “I’m turning 50 next month, and this exhibition comes at a meaningful time in my life. More than a retrospective, these new works are a reflection of gratitude. They are my way of looking back with a thankful heart at the people, experiences, and moments that have inspired me and shaped the person and artist I am today,” Agustin said.

A graduate of De La Salle University–Dasmariñas with a degree in Communication, Agustin has worked as a graphic designer for more than 20 years while steadily building a career as a visual artist. His paintings have been featured in numerous local and international solo and group exhibitions. He is also the author of the self-published art books The Art of Frederick Agustin: Expressions and Energies, Salmo: The Art of Fred Agustin, and Senti: Moments of Gratitude and Nostalgia.

With Painting with the Soul, Agustin continues his artistic exploration of the human experience—reminding audiences that amid the pace of modern life, our greatest treasures often lie in the memories we carry and the connections we share.

The exhibition is open to the public until August 28, 2026, at drybrush Gallery, 2nd Floor, SM Mall of Asia Square.
