BACOLOD City A tricycle driver died after he crashed into a bus at Barangay Lantad, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday.
Police Major Rollie Pondevilla, Silay City police chief, identified the victim as Jomar Gonzales, 44, of the said village.
Pondevilla said Gonzales was about to stop on the left side of the road to give way to an approaching ambulance when he allegedly sideswiped a city bus parked in the area.
Gonzales then lost control of his tricycle and fell to the road. He was brought to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival due to severe head injuries.
Pondevilla said bus driver Roy Teodosio, 57, of Barangay Mambulac was brought to the police station for further investigation but he was not detained because he had no fault in the accident.
It was more of a self-inflicted accident, he added.
The bus is being used to send and fetch teachers from schools which are far from the city proper.
