BACOLOD CITY — Police recently arrested four people and reported seizing a total of PHP 2,284,800 worth of suspected shabu in Bacolod City and Negros Oriental.
The biggest haul was recorded in Barangay 2, Bacolod City, where police arrested three alleged high-value individuals and seized 230 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 1.5 million on Monday.
The suspects were identified as alias “Rob,” 28, of Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City; “Jor,” 20; and “Lan,” 22, both residents of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Intelligence monitoring by Police Station 2 indicated that the suspects were allegedly operating in several barangays in Bacolod City through a meet-up scheme.
“We will not allow illegal drugs to undermine the safety and peace that our communities deserve,” Brig. Gen. Rudecindo Reales, director of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), said, particularly as Bacolod City observes the MassKara Festival.
While the festival brings together residents and visitors for various activities, police personnel remain deployed and focused on preventing criminal activity and protecting the public.
“This shows that our personnel remain vigilant and prepared to act on validated information through lawful and focused police action,” he said.
Meanwhile, police arrested a 33-year-old man from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, after allegedly seizing 106 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 720,800 in Barangay Maslog, Sibulan, on Wednesday.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Opao.”
Based on the investigation, Opao allegedly sold illegal drugs to customers who met him in front of his wife’s sari-sari store.
“Every gram of illegal drugs taken off the streets means one less threat to the safety and well-being of our communities,” Reales said.
The itemized seizures cited in the report — PHP 1.5 million in Bacolod City and PHP 720,800 in Sibulan — total PHP 2,220,800, which is PHP 64,000 lower than the reported overall amount of PHP 2,284,800.
