BACOLOD CITY — Four persons, including a minor student, were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
Police arrested “Boy,” 42, a resident of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, and “Kim,” 33, and “Mar,” 34, both residents of Barangay 2, Bacolod City, after confiscating 50 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 340,000 in Barangay Singcang-Airport.
According to a report by the Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region, Boy was tagged as a high-value individual, while the two others were classified as street-level individuals.
The regional office said the operation showed the coordination, operational efficiency and resolve of the Bacolod City Police Office in confronting illegal drug activities.
PRO-NIR also called on the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with authorities and support efforts to build safer, more secure and drug-free communities.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy was also apprehended after police seized suspected shabu worth PHP 34,000 from him in Barangay 6, Kabankalan City.
Police Lt. Nolly Gudaca, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, said the suspect was allegedly influenced by his siblings’ involvement in illegal drugs, noting that one of his brothers is currently in jail for a drug offense.
Gudaca said the operation was launched against the Grade 12 student after his name surfaced during investigations involving previously arrested drug suspects.
“He’s well known in the area,” Gudaca added.
Police also recovered two improvised glass tooters and PHP 300 in marked money from the minor.
