Four persons were nabbed for allegedly taking part in an illegal cockfight in Carles, Iloilo afternoon of July 18, 2021.
Arrested were Raul Dela Cruz, Joel Olvido, Jury Dequiña, and Eldefonso Dequiña, all residents of Barangay Binuluangan, Carles.
A certain Randy Auditor evaded authorities.
Members of Carles Police Station and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Special Operations Group (IPPO-PSOG) stormed Binuluangan village after receiving reports of an illegal cockfight in the area.
The four suspects were caught red handed while Auditor was quick to flee, police reported.
Recovered were nine dead and two live fighting cocks, two gaff blades, two gaff scabbards, a wall clock, and P1,000 cash bet.
Aside from the criminal case for violation of (Cockfighting Law of 1974), they would also be charged for breach of Executive No. 258, Series of 2021.
On Saturday, Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr. issued EO No. 258 placing the Province of Iloilo under ECQ (An Order for Intensified Prevention, Detection, Isolation, Treatment and Integration under Enhanced Community Quarantine to Implement the Socio-Economic Recovery Plan in the Province of Iloilo), effective until July 31, 2021.
