Four persons were arrested for illegal gambling in two separate police operations in Iloilo province on Thursday.
Members of Banate Municipal Police Station collared Gina Superal and Grace Bustamante around 12:20 p.m. at Barangay Poblacion.
Superal, 54, of Barangay Merced, Banate, and Bustamante, 46, of Barangay Poblacion, Banate, were caught collecting bets for an STL bookies operation.
Ten minutes after the two women’s arrest, members of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office – Special Operations Group (IPPO-SOG) and Pototan Municipal Police Station arrested two persons at Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo.
Arthur Britos, 41, and Shirley Miranda, 56, both residents of the said place, were also caught engaging in the illegal numbers game with no authority from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Recovered from their possession were a bundle of cotejos or bet list, P260 cash, and carbon papers.
The suspects are now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9287.
