ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Four more medical frontliners were infected with COVID-19.
Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas confirmed the information on Monday. The four patients are all asymptomatic and under quarantine.
Last week, four doctors, two nurses and two nursing attendants of the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital (RMPH) in Roxas City, Capiz also tested positive for COVID-19.
The RMPH management announced yesterday it temporarily stopped accepting non-COVID-19 cases.
“Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital shall only be accepting seriously ill or critical indigent COVID-19 patients,” a statement from the management read.
The eight COVID-19-positive medical workers were being managed at the hospital. Three of them were exhibiting mild symptoms.
Contract tracing was also launched while hospital employees who had close contact with the eight staff were swabbed and ordered to go on quarantine. Portions of the hospital were decontaminated, too.
“We are requesting suspect and probable COVID-19 cases with mild symptoms to kindly proceed to other medical facilities for their care and management,” the RMPH management said.
The hospital urged the public to continue practicing minimum health standards – wearing of face mask and face shield, observing physical distancing, washing of hands with disinfectant or soap and water – to prevent the spread of infection.
