Four ‘holduppers’ nabbed

BACOLOD City – Charges for robbery with force and intimidation were filed against four persons, including two brothers after they victimized a woman in Barangay 5, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

Police identified the suspects as Michael Toyogan, 42, his brother Francisco Toyogan, 44, their cousin Jereco Burdago, 38, and their friend John Mar Sta. Ana, 39, all residents of Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon, city police chief, said that the younger Toyogan allegedly threatened the victim at gunpoint and stole her cellular phone.

The suspect then allegedly fired a shot before fleeing with his three companions on board two motorcycles.

Mesahon said that they conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspects in Barangay Palampas while they were having a drinking session early Thursday.

Mesahon said that the city’s closed circuit television (CCTV) camera also helped the police to locate the suspects by identifying one of their motorcycles.

Police recovered from the younger Toyogan a .45-caliber pistol loaded with six live ammunition, an extra magazine with another six live ammos, and the stolen cellular phone.

Mesahon said that additional charges for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition were also filed against the younger Toyogan.

Mesahon said the victim positively identified the suspects.

He said that another complainant also reported to the police that Michael allegedly robbed him four days ago.

He said they are investigating if these suspects are part of a robbery group.
