BACOLOD City – Four persons were killed while three others were injured in separate road accidents here and in Negros Occidental from June 22 to 24, 2021.
In Sipalay City, a one-year-old girl died while her relative was injured after they were sideswiped by a motorcycle at Purok Lubi, Barangay Mambaroto last Tuesday.
Police withheld the name of the minor. The wounded relative was Erlyn Labos.
Labos was walking on the roadside while carrying the child when the accident happened.
According to the police, motorcycle driver Nixon James Labandilo 31, of Barangay Gil Montilla, was allegedly drunk while driving.
The victims suffered injuries on the different parts of their bodies and were immediately taken to Sipalay City Infirmary. But the child died from head injuries while Labos suffered fractures.
The following day in Sagay City, Llewelyn Datolayta, 56, of Barangay Maquiling, was killed while his wife Dory Datolayta, 57, was injured after they figured in a collision at Barangay Barangay Lopez Jaena.
Police reports indicated that the tire of Llewelyn’s driven tricycle deflated causing him to lose control of his bike which collided with a truck driven by Roger Vergara, 47, of Barangay Bato.
Both victims were taken to Alfredo Marañon Sr. District Hospital, where Llewelyn was declared dead on arrival.
In Victorias City, Florien Jane Casanova, 27, of Barangay 6-A died after her motorcycle collided with a tricycle driven by 28-year-old Kevin John Mana at
Barangay 19 last Thursday.
Casanova was taken to Kaayong Lawas Foundation Hospital Inc. where she was declared dead on arrival.
Also killed in a road accident that day was Quintina Seldora, 48, of Talisay City, while her husband Reynald Seldora, 46 suffered minor injuries.
Police Captain Paul Vincent Pendon, head of Police Station 2, said the tricycle driven by Reynald was reportedly sideswiped by a Toyota Innova driven by car renter 57-year-old David Palawar.
Quintina was pronounced dead on arrival at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here due to head injuries.
Pendon said that charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property was already filed yesterday against Palawar who is detained at the police station.
