Former town councilor nabbed for illegal guns

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Capiz) led by Police Chris Major Arthemius Devaras swooped down on the house of Patricio Vergara Villasis Sr. at Brgy. Linambasan, Jamindan.

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A former Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member of Jamindan, Capiz was arrested Wednesday evening for possessing unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Capiz) led by Police Chris Major Arthemius Devaras swooped down on the house of Patricio Vergara Villasis Sr. at Brgy. Linambasan, Jamindan.
A warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 20 Judge Judith Orindain-Tonogbanua in Mambusao, Capiz authorized the search.
Recovered from Villasis was a .9mm pistol with two live ammunitions.
Police conducted the search following complaints of indiscriminate gun firing against Villasis.
The suspect was charged Thursday afternoon for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Laws on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) before the Capiz Provincial Prosecutors Office.
