A former rebel was arrested 34 years after he was charged for murder.
Danilo de Dios, 59, who also goes by the name alias Gogoy Danny, was arrested at his home in Barangay Magtulis, Barbaza, Antique, around 7:30 a.m. of March 17, 2020.
De Dios is allegedly a former member of the New People’s Army’s Komiteng Rehiyon-Panay (KR-P) – Northern Front Committee.
Officers of the Barbaza Police Station, Regional Intelligence Unit 6 (RIU-6), Antique Police Provincial Office -Provincial Intelligence Section (APPO-PIS), and the 63rd Special Action Force (SAF) arrested de Dios for murder docketed as Criminal Case No. 3474 in the sala of Regional Trial Court Branch 13 Judge Jiovany Marin in Culasi, Antique.
On March 15, police also arrested alleged NPA leader Alfredo Alarcon, 67, at around 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Barangay Cansilayan in Valderrama, Antique.
Alarcon is the No. 8 most wanted person in the town of Valderrama. He is allegedly a sub-leader of the NPA’s Southern Front Committee.
He was collared for murder in Criminal Case No. 19-10-1878 in the sala of Judge Mario Andrew Jr.
The two suspects are now detained.
