BACOLOD City – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is still trying to recapture five detainees who escaped from the Manjuyod District Jail in Negros Oriental Monday morning.
The escapees were identified as Janly Callao, 39, of Tayasan town; Julan Paculanang, 30, of Jimalalud town; Ronnie Flores, 25, of Sta. Catalina town; Joseph Casido, 24, of Manjuyod town; and Lito Pedro, 49, of Jimalalud town.
A report from the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), said that Callao, Paculanang, and Pedro were charged for rape while Flores and Casido were facing charges for illegal possession of firearms, and murder, respectively.
The escapees destroyed the wall of Detention Cell No. 2 and fled.
The incident was discovered by BJMP personnel around 5:30 a.m. Monday during the headcount of the detainees.
