Filipino breakout band Fitterkarma is kicking off 2026 with the highly anticipated release of their latest single, Aswang Sa Maynila, which they will launch with a live show on Feb. 14 at 123 Block, Mandaluyong City.
Following their viral rise in 2025 with hits Pag-ibig Ay Kanibalismo II and Kalapastangan, the alt-rock group is ready to deepen their narrative and sonic palette through a new track that explores themes of longing, displacement, and emotional isolation.
Set for digital release on Feb. 13, Aswang Sa Maynila reflects the pain of unrequited love and the struggle to be heard.
“It captures the frustration of wanting to say so much to a person you care about but ultimately feeling powerless and unheard,” said lead vocalist and songwriter Joao de Leon.
Joao describes the song as rooted in the idea of “not belonging in someone’s heart no matter what you do,” adding that the single is especially meaningful due to its collaborative nature.
The track features guest vocals from Kai Sevillano of Novocrane — a first for the band — and was produced by Xergio Ramos, who helped refine the arrangement while allowing each band member’s creative input to shine.
“Having Kai as the voice of the track also marks our first collaboration with another artist, which makes this release especially exciting for us,” Joao said.
The single draws influence from J-Rock and heavier alt-rock styles, with Joao, Soph, Ders, and Mikee contributing across songwriting and instrumentation.
To celebrate the launch, Bangungot: Aswang Sa Maynila Single Launch will feature an extended hour-long live set from Fitterkarma, along with a full slate of guest performers to be announced in the coming weeks.
“Fans can expect a very exciting lineup of artists supporting us,” Joao said. “For our set, we’ll be playing more songs than usual, including some older tracks and unreleased material. We’re also preparing a few surprising covers, which we’re really excited to share.”
Organized in partnership with GNN and ONErpm, the event will also include exclusive merchandise booths, fan activities, and interactive experiences — part of the band’s ongoing efforts to give back to their growing community of supporters.

Fitterkarma is a Filipino art rock band known for their gothic and folklore-inspired themes, dark, emotional songwriting, and genre-bending sounds. Last year, the Filipino indie outfit achieved both commercial and critical success—thanks to their massive hit “Pag-ibig Ay Kanibalismo II,” which reached No. 1 on Spotify Philippines Top 50 chart and the Billboard Philippines Hot 100 in December 2025. The song has maintained its position on top for multiple weeks and has landed on year-end, best-of lists on notable music publications such as Billboard Philippines, Rolling Stone Philippines, and Flying Lugaw. Their other smash single, “Kalapastangan,” has also performed exceptionally well on streaming, peaking at No. 2 and No. 5 on Spotify and Billboard Philippines charts, respectively.
