Fishpond worker killed in fisticuff

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 55-year-old fishpond caretaker died after a drunken commotion with a colleague at Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Cagay here Friday last week.

Police identified the victim as Remy Catalan of Barangay Dulangan, Pilar, Capiz while the suspect was identified as Arjun Bunda, 19, of Barangay Jamul-awon, Panay, Capiz.

According to Cagay Punong Barangay Arturo Aragon, the two were cooking chicken for their appetizer while drinking liquor when Bunda allegedly berated Catalan.

The victim got angry and suddenly punched the suspect, prompting the latter to retaliate.

The blow knocked down Catalan who then hit his head on a hard object.

Catalan was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Bunda voluntarily surrendered to the police and is presently detained at the Roxas City police station.
