ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 41-year-old fisherman facing vote-buying raps was arrested Monday morning at his house in Sitio Malamig, Barangay Poblacion, Sapian, Capiz.
Junior Valentino did not resist when police served to him a warrant of arrest for violation of Article XXII, Section 261 of the Omnibus Election Code (vote buying and selling).
Judge Daniel Antonio Gerardo S. Amular of the Regional Trial Court Branch 21 in Mambusao, Capiz issued the warrant on Dec 29, 2011.
The court recommended a P12,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
The police said Valentino was caught and charged for alleged vote-buying in the 2010 elections. He went into hiding after a warrant for his arrest was issued.
He is presently detained at Sapian Municipal Police Station.
