BACOLOD City – A fisherman rescued a hawksbill sea turtle trapped in a fishing net in the waters of Barangay Central Tabao, Valladolid, Negros Occidental Thursday.
Melvin Trayco was on board his fishing boat when he saw the turtle tangled in a floating fish net.
He then brought the turtle to the Community Environment Natural Resources Office (Cenro) for custody.
According to Mark Cabrillos, staff from the Municipality Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (Mdrrmo), the turtle is 25 centimeters wide and 38 centimeters long.
Since it had no injuries, it was released back to the sea.
