Police identified the victim as “Jovan,” a resident of the barangay.
Investigation showed that the victim and the 42-year-old suspect, identified as “Dodong,” were drinking with neighbors when an argument reportedly broke out over a parcel of land in Toboso.
Police said the confrontation escalated when the victim allegedly punched the suspect.
Authorities said the suspect then went to his house, got a 6-inch kitchen knife and allegedly attacked the victim.
The victim tried to flee, but the suspect allegedly chased him and repeatedly stabbed him, inflicting injuries to his right armpit and left hand.
He was declared dead at a hospital.
Barangay watchmen later arrested the suspect at his residence, where he also voluntarily surrendered the knife to authorities.
Police have yet to announce the filing of charges in connection with the killing.
