A fish vendor was gunned down morning of May 28, 2022 in Sara, Iloilo.
The victim, Reynan Gabayeron, 44, a resident of Barangay Bacjauan Sur, Concepcion town, was riding a tricycle to buy fish products when two motorcycle-riding gunmen shot him along Barangay Salcedo, Sara.
Major Jose Nemias Pamplona, Sara police chief, said the victim was with his cousin when the incident happened.
Gabayeron was hit on the head and was believed to have instantly died.
The tricycle went wayward until it stopped in a nearby rice field.
Pamplona said they already have a person of interest behind the killing. But he opted to withhold his identity pending further investigation.
Pamplona said that old grudges could have triggered the murder.
“Damo man ni atraso ang biktima. Damo man siya na-kontra because of his attitude ” he said.
Gabayeron was allegedly involved in illegal discharge of firearms, grave threats, and some unpaid transactions.
There were reports that he was even subjected to a firearm raid several years back but Pamplona said they’re still verifying the information.
