BACOLOD CITY — A 42-year-old fish vendor, who was reportedly driven by poverty to return to the illegal drug trade, was arrested in a drug bust in Barangay 12 here on Friday.
Operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit seized 380 grams of suspected shabu worth PHP 2,584,000 from the suspect, identified only as alias Pol, a resident of Barangay Taculing.
Police Lt. Richard Legada, assistant CDEU team leader, said the suspect was arrested for a drug offense in May 2021 and was released through plea bargaining in 2023.
Based on police monitoring, Pol allegedly resumed selling illegal drugs this year, Legada said.
Legada added that the suspect had reportedly grown tired of selling fish.
The CDEU classified Pol as a high-value individual listed by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
Drug charges are being readied against the suspect, who is detained at Police Station 1.
