Fires gobble P5M worth of properties in Jan-March 2019

MORE than P5-million worth of properties in Iloilo City went up in smoke in numerous fire incidents from January to March 2019. MORE than P5-million worth of properties in Iloilo City went up in smoke in numerous fire incidents from January to March 2019.
The Bureau of Fire Protection said 143 fire incidents occurred in the first three months of the year, higher by 96 percent compared to 73 incidents with close to P2 million in damages during the same period in 2018.
From January to March, BFP-Iloilo City recorded 49 structural (residential and others) fires, 41 grass fires, 16 rubbish fires, 33 pole fires, two miscellaneous fires, and two vehicular fires.
Two firefighters and 40 civilians were injured and one killed in the said fire incidents. (PIO)
