BACOLOD City – A Christmas party ended in tragedy here as two members of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) engaged in a stabbing incident which resulted in one death on Monday.
Slain was Fire Officer 3 (FO3) Isaac Cabana.
Police Major Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 2, said Cabana and FO3 Cornelio Silva were having a drinking session when a commotion ensued between them.
Gabana said that they have yet to determine who started the commotion.
Gabana said other BFP personnel were surprised when they saw the two firemen hugging each other while they were already lying on the ground.
When they checked on them, both firefighters were already wounded.
Cabana suffered a lone stab wound on the neck while Silva was hit on the back and stomach.
Both firemen were taken to a hospital, where Cabana was declared dead.
Silva is confined at a private hospital here.
Police recovered a knife from the scene but they have yet to determine who owns the bladed weapon.
Authorities also cannot yet establish the motive behind the incident.
