BACOLOD City – Victims of a fire that hit a residential area in Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang received P5,000 financial assistance from former 3rd Negros Occidental congressman Rep. Alfredo Benitez.
Abang Lingkod Party-list Representative Stephen Paduano, a close ally of Benitez, confirmed that the latter gave P5,000 as financial assistance to each of the 65 households affected by the fire Monday.
Paduano told Daily Guardian here Thursday that Benitez, who visited the fire victims, preferred to give cash assistance from his own funds as relief goods and in kind donations have been pouring in for the evacuation center.
Earlier Bacolod City Rep. Greg Gasataya, Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran also distributed relief goods to the victims.
