ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Some PHP200,000 worth of properties went up in smoke after a fire razed three houses and partially damaged two others Tuesday afternoon at Barangay 1 here.
Witnesses claimed that the fire erupted in the house of couple Reynaldo and Sherlita Harion then spread to the houses of Grace Hari-on and Teresita de Felipe.
No one was hurt in the incident.
According to Grace Hari-on, she was about to take a shower when somebody informed her about the conflagration.
They tried salvaging their belongings but the fire spread quickly, forcing them to go out empty-handed.
“I was thinking of saving the fruits that I was selling but it was already too late,” Hari-on said.
The Bureau of Fire Protection-Roxas City said they quelled the fire about 50 minutes after it erupted.
The three houses were made of light materials.
Meanwhile, Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas immediately proceeded to the fire scene and promised to help the affected families.
The displaced families are presently staying at the Barangay Hall and Day Care Center of Brgy. 1.
