Fire razes 21 houses in two cities

BACOLOD City – Twenty-one houses went up in smoke in three separate fires here and in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental last week.

The recent incident happened at Barangay 4 here yesterday, which destroyed nine houses and damaged one.

Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña, city fire marshal, said the fire allegedly started from the house of Nenita Fulo and immediately spread to other houses owned by Melicio Luces, Niel Espanola, Flusy Madayag, Jojo Dolorfino, Glen Salimbot, Benjamij Regalado, Bernardo Regalado, Mark Jagonap, and Peeboy Balajadia.

Ploteña said the fire broke out around 9:25 a.m. and was put out around 11:19 a.m.

The fire gobbled more or less P150,000 worth of properties. No injuries were reported.

Ploteña said they have yet to determine the cause of fire.

Before the blaze in Barangay 4, five houses were destroyed while two others were gutted at Barangay Aguisan on Friday.

The fire erupted around 1:30 a.m. reportedly from the house of 27-year-old Joebert Sedon.

Other affected house owners were Bernie Valdevia, Fidal Valdivia, Ernesto Importa, Antonio Belle, Renante Belle, and Salde Cordero.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that P30,000 worth of properties were damaged.

Last Friday, a house was destroyed while three other houses were damaged in a fire at Barangay Mansilingan here. No injuries were reported.
